SAMS Odisha Diploma Admission 2026: Polytechnic and Lateral Entry

Important: what is confirmed for 2026 and what is not

Our researchers could not open the SAMS Diploma key dates page or the skill section home page of SAMS. The newest official document they could read is a draft brochure. So:

• The brochure is marked DRAFT and dated 22.04.26. Rules in it may change in the final version.
• The CAF dates in the draft (01.04.2026 to 30.04.2026) are not confirmed as the actual 2026 dates. Check the official portal.
• As of mid October 2026, the main 2026 rounds are probably over. Ask the polytechnic or the official helpline if any seats are still open.

Eligibility: first year and lateral entry

As per the draft 2026-27 brochure:

Admission is by merit in the qualifying exam. There is no entrance test. So your Class 10, +2 or ITI marks decide your rank. If you just got your Class 10 result, see our BSE 10th result guide. CAF fee, choices and seat quotas

• CAF fee (draft): Rs 200 for SC/ST and female applicants; Rs 300 for others. Exempt: PC, transgender, PVTG and Green Passage applicants.
• Choices (draft): at least one choice, with no maximum. Adding more realistic choices can improve your chance of getting a seat.
• Green Passage: 1% of seats (draft).
• EWS: 10% supernumerary seats (draft).
• TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver): 5% supernumerary seats (draft).

On caste reservation, the Odisha Cabinet raised ST reservation from 12% to 22.5%, SC from 8% to 16.25%, and introduced 11.25% SEBC for universities, colleges, ITIs, polytechnics and professional courses, as reported by Careers360 on 5 April 2026. The portal will show how this applies to each polytechnic.

How to apply for diploma admission on SAMS

1. Open samsodisha.gov.in and look for Diploma (Polytechnic) in the course list.
2. Register with your own mobile number. The official Diploma FAQ says login uses your registered mobile number and password.
3. Fill the CAF yourself. Choose first year or lateral entry correctly, and enter your marks exactly as on your mark sheet.
4. Add your choices of polytechnic and branch in your order of preference (at least one, per the draft).
5. Pay the official CAF fee shown on the portal.
6. Save or print the submitted CAF and receipt.
7. Check each merit list on the portal and report to the allotted polytechnic with original documents on time.

Merit lists and what happens after allotment

Because diploma admission is by merit with no entrance test, your rank depends on your qualifying marks, your category and your choices. Our fact sheet does not have official 2026 diploma round dates, so we cannot list them. For other SAMS courses, admission usually moves in rounds with a merit list (ମେଧା ତାଲିକା) for each. Check the Diploma section of the official portal for the rounds this year.

• If you get a seat, report to the polytechnic by the deadline with your originals.
• If you do not get a seat, keep watching the portal for later rounds.
• Do not pay anyone outside the official process for a seat.

During and after the diploma

Your semester exams and results are handled by SCTE&VT, which also awards the diploma, as per the draft brochure. Our SCTEVT result guide explains how to find result notices on the SCTE&VT site.

After a diploma, SAMS also lists Post Diploma courses such as Post Diploma in Industrial Safety and Post Diploma in Iron and Steel Manufacturing and Plant Management. Careers360 reported that a diploma after Class 10 is accepted for +3 degree admission; confirm this on the official portal.
