SAMS Odisha ITI Admission 2026: Trades, CAF and Merit
ITI admission in Odisha runs through SAMS. This guide covers the CAF fee, choosing options, the selection rounds, what is confirmed for 2026 and what is not, and what to do after ITI.
This is an independent guide. It is not SAMS, not the Skill Development department and not any ITI. We explain what the official SAMS ITI pages and news reports say, and we tell you clearly when something is not confirmed. Please check every date and rule on the official portal before you apply.
ITI (Industrial Training Institute) admission is one of the courses listed on the SAMS (Student Academic Management System) home page, along with +2, +3, Diploma and others. The SAMS ITI pages carry the header "Department of Skill Dev & Tech Education", which shows which department runs this admission.
Where ITI admission happens on SAMS
Start at the main SAMS portal, samsodisha.gov.in, and look for the ITI option in the course menu. ITI and Diploma pages sit on a separate skill section of SAMS. Our researchers could not open that section's home page, so we describe it in words instead of linking it. The official ITI FAQ and key dates pages did open:
- SAMS ITI FAQ (fee, options, password help)
- SAMS ITI key dates
Menu labels on SAMS change from year to year. If you cannot find ITI, go back to the SAMS home page and look for the course list, or call the official SAMS helpline listed on our helpline page.
ITI admission dates: 2025 official, 2026 unconfirmed
Be careful here. The official key dates page was titled 2026 when our researchers read it, but it still showed 2025 dates. So these are the latest dates we can confirm from an official page, and they are for 2025:
| Stage | 2025 (official key dates page) | 2026 (commonly listed online, not confirmed) |
|---|---|---|
| CAF opens | 10 April 2025 | 14 April 2026 |
| CAF last date | 20 June 2025 | 30 June 2026 |
| 1st selection | 30 June 2025 | 17 July 2026 |
| 2nd selection | 11 July 2025 | 28 July 2026 |
| Phase II selection | 29 July 2025 | Not listed |
| Spot admission | 11 August to 17 October 2025 | Not listed |
The 2026 column comes from an education website (Sarvgyan), not an official notice. Treat it as unconfirmed and check the official key dates page or your nearest ITI. As of mid October 2026, the main rounds for this year are likely over, but the 2025 pattern shows spot admission running into October, so ask your ITI whether any seats are still open.

Eligibility (confirm on the official portal)
Our fact sheet does not have an official 2026 eligibility notice for ITI. An education website lists 8th or 10th pass, and age 14 or above as on 1 August 2026. This is commonly listed online; confirm on the official portal or with your ITI before you apply. Eligibility can differ by trade, so read the rule for each trade you choose.
On reservation, the Odisha Cabinet raised ST reservation from 12% to 22.5%, SC from 8% to 16.25%, and introduced 11.25% SEBC for universities, colleges, ITIs, polytechnics and professional courses, as reported by Careers360 on 5 April 2026. How this is applied to each ITI seat will be shown on the official portal.
CAF fee, options and login
The official SAMS ITI FAQ states:
- CAF fee: Rs 100 per application. Orphans are exempt.
- Options: you must choose a minimum of FIVE options. On the portal, an option is usually an institute and trade choice; follow what the form shows.
- Password help: there is a "Forgot Password" link on the login page.
Trades: the list of trades and seats differs by institute and year. Our fact sheet does not include a trade list, so we do not give one here. You will see the trades offered by each ITI while filling choices on the official portal. Talk to the ITI or a teacher about which trade suits you before you lock choices. For login problems, see our SAMS login guide.
How to apply for ITI on SAMS: step by step
- Open samsodisha.gov.in and look for ITI in the course list.
- Register with your own mobile number. Keep that phone with you, as the portal usually sends an OTP. Enter the OTP only on the official page.
- Fill the CAF (Common Application Form) yourself with details from your mark sheet and certificates.
- Choose at least five options in your order of preference. Put the option you want most at the top.
- Pay the official CAF fee (Rs 100, orphans exempt) online as the portal shows.
- Print or save the submitted CAF and the payment receipt.
- Check the selection result for each round on the portal, then report to the allotted ITI with original documents by the given date.
If any screen looks different from these steps, follow the on-screen instructions and the official FAQ. Do not let a cyber cafe or agent fill your choices without you checking them.
Merit list, selection rounds and cut-off
Based on the 2025 official key dates, ITI admission had a 1st selection, a 2nd selection, a Phase II selection and then spot admission. Expect a similar pattern, but follow the current year's key dates page.
Each selection is a merit list (ମେଧା ତାଲିକା). Your rank and allotment depend on your marks, your options, the seats in each trade and the reservation rules. Our fact sheet has no official ITI cut-off marks, so we do not publish any. To understand how cut-offs work in SAMS generally, read the SAMS cut-off marks guide.
If you are not selected in one round, keep checking later rounds. If you are selected, report on time, or you may lose the seat.
After ITI: trade test, results and diploma
- Trade test: a SCTE&VT notice of 23 March 2026 refers to the All India Trade Test 2026 for CTS courses through SIDH, a national (NCVT) process. Ask your ITI where your trade test results appear. See our SCTEVT result guide for what SCTE&VT does and does not publish.
- Diploma lateral entry: the draft 2026-27 DTE&T brochure says students with a 2-year ITI can apply for lateral entry to the 3rd semester of a diploma. See the Diploma admission guide.
- Fees: Odisha's free education scheme (Gyanodaya Shiksharu Samruddhi) excludes professional and technical courses, as reported by Careers360. Ask your ITI about its fees.
Stay safe
- This site does not collect CAF numbers, login IDs, passwords, OTPs, Aadhaar or bank details. Never send them to us.
- Fill your CAF yourself on the official portal and pay only the official fee shown there.
- Never share OTP, Aadhaar or bank details with unknown callers.
- Ignore agents who promise an ITI seat for money, and beware of fake websites and fake merit list links.
For other admissions after Class 10, see the +2 admission guide.
Frequently asked questions
How do I apply for ITI admission in Odisha?
ITI admission runs on the official SAMS portal, samsodisha.gov.in. Look for ITI in the course list, register with your mobile number, fill the CAF yourself, choose at least five ITI and trade options, and pay the official Rs 100 fee. Then check each selection round on the portal and report on time.
What is the SAMS ITI CAF fee?
The official SAMS ITI FAQ says the CAF fee is Rs 100 per application, and orphans are exempt. Pay only the fee shown on the official portal. If anyone asks for extra money to submit your form or promises a seat, do not pay, as it is not part of the official process.
What are the SAMS ITI admission dates for 2026?
Official 2026 dates were not confirmed when our fact sheet was prepared. The official key dates page showed 2025 dates: CAF 10 April to 20 June 2025 and spot admission until 17 October 2025. An education site listed a 14 April to 30 June 2026 CAF window, but confirm on the portal.
How many options can I choose for ITI on SAMS?
The official SAMS ITI FAQ says you must choose a minimum of five options. An option is usually an institute and trade choice, as shown on the form. List them in your real order of preference, because allotment follows that order. The FAQ does not state a maximum in our fact sheet.
I forgot my SAMS ITI password. What should I do?
The official ITI FAQ says there is a Forgot Password link on the login page. Use it with your registered mobile number. Never ask a stranger or a phone caller to reset it for you, and never share your OTP. If it still fails, contact the official SAMS helpline.
Does SCTEVT publish ITI results?
Our researchers found no ITI result notice on the SCTE&VT notice board. A March 2026 notice refers to the All India Trade Test for CTS courses through SIDH, which is a national NCVT process. Ask your ITI where results for your trade are published.
Can I join a diploma after ITI?
Yes, according to the draft 2026-27 DTE&T diploma brochure, students with a 2-year ITI can apply for lateral entry to the 3rd semester of a diploma course. The brochure is a draft, so confirm the final rules on the official SAMS Diploma pages before applying.
